White Christmas

So, my first official Broadway Across America event finally came and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. “White Christmas” is one of my perennial favorite holiday films and so I had high hopes about this musical. It was good and I enjoyed it, but it didn’t feel as “grand” as I had hoped it might be. The dancing was pretty good and the performances were better than OK – specifically the actress who played Betty (Kerry O’Malley). She almost seemed in a different league during her solo performance of “Love You Didn’t Do Right By Me.” I always thought Rosemary Clooney was at her best in this movie and Ms. O’Malley honored her well with her performance. All in all, it was a nice Saturday matinee though I will say that I’m looking forward to “Spring Awakening” being on a Friday night in the hopes that the median age will be less than 60 as it was today. Seriously, people were repeating the dialogue for their ancient friends who couldn’t hear the actors on stage . . .
